Notice for Deanery Synod members.
If you are on email you should receive notification of deanery synod meetings by email. You will also get emails advertising events and giving information unless you have asked to opt out. If you are not on email, minutes and agendas will be sent by post. The cost is prohibitively high for us to send anything other than minutes and agendas by post on a regular basis. If there is a specific event that you would like a poster for, please contact the office and one will be posted to you. We realise that this means there is an inequity about this for those who do not have an internet connection but if there is anything the deanery office can do to help, please do not hesitate to get in touch. If you are not receiving emails from the deanery office, it is probably because they do not have your address.

• It has been decided that next year the Chrism Eucharist and Renewal of Ministerial Vows will be on the Wednesday of Holy Week, that is Wednesday 4 April 2012 at 7.30pm. in the Cathedral.

• It is appreciated that this year the Wednesday evening cut across the Holy Week plans of some parishes and communities. It is hoped, given this early notice that you will be able to build this creatively into your programmes for Holy Week, and indeed that more members of congregations will be able to worship in the Cathedral that evening as part of our preparation for Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter Day.

Maundy Thursday - Shoe shining - a note from Bishop Paul

• Bishop Tony and I both found the shoe shining ministry offered in Nottingham on Maundy Thursday a most positive experience and local clergy were able to advertise Easter services and talk with people.

We would like to commend this to the parishes; it may well be that you could use this kind of idea during Holy Week in your situation and try it yourselves. The press release outlining what happened can be found on the diocesan web page.

Bishop Paul's Lent Addresses 2012

for the Nottingham South & North Deaneries., with the theme of 'Prayer'. They will take place on Thursdays 1st, 8th and 15th March at 7.30pm at Wollaton Community Centre NG8 2ND, St Mary's Church, Wollaton Park,NG8 1AF and Grangewood Methodist church, NG8 2SJ respectively. We are hoping to record the talks so that they will be available for download from the deanery website for small group discussion and individual viewing.
