        General Synod elections

Elections to the General synod are taking place this year. Papers will shortly be sent out to those who qualify to vote.

The dates for Hustings are
Wednesday 22 September at Burton Joyce
Thursday 23 September at Christ Church Worksop

Clergy and Lay on the same night at the same venue - in different rooms 7pm for 7.30pm.

The electorate is the membership of the deanery synods in the Diocese.

Who can stand for election?

To stand for election to the house of Laity you need to be:

• 18 or over; and
• An "actual communicant" of the church of England; and
• On the electoral roll of a parish in the diocese.

To stand for election to the House of Clergy you need to be:

• ordained priest or deacon; and
• Beneficed or licensed; or
• Have permission to officiate in the Diocese.

Closing date for nominations is 3rd September 2010

Closing date for return of voting papers Friday 8th October 2010
